Have Questions?

Frequently Asked Questions
Is Percona Everest a private DBaaS?
A DBaaS or private DBaaS involves using external hosting services. Percona Everest stands out because it allows you to run it within your own infrastructure, avoiding costs associated with automation features or external resources. There is no vendor lock-in; Percona Everest is truly open source software that lets you manage your databases all in one place — your own. It’s a forever-free DBaaS.
Will Percona Everest cost me anything?
No, all Percona software is truly open source and well-supported by the Percona Team and community.
Are Percona builds really freely available and open source? How do you monetize this?
Yes, Percona’s builds are freely available and open source. We believe that it’s important for everyone to have control of their own data and that you should be able to run open source MySQL whether you have a business relationship with Percona or not. However, we also know that binaries are only part of the picture when running MySQL for business-critical workloads.  We monetize our software by offering support, fully managed services, and on-demand help for your MySQL projects.
Will Percona Everest support other databases?

Yes, we plan to support Valkey (Redis fork) and Clickhouse soon. Let us know if you require such integration here.

What is the difference between Percona Everest and Percona Kubernetes Operators?
While each Percona Operator manages specific databases via the command-line interface (CLI), Percona Everest combines all operators (for MySQL, MongoDB, and PostgreSQL) under one interface and uses a user-friendly UI and Rest API to manage all databases in one place across different clusters.
Can I deploy databases from different clusters?
You will be able to very soon. This is our priority feature to be implemented. Let us know that you need this feature here to make implementation faster and to be notified once it is out.
What databases can I deploy at the same time?
For now, you can deploy MySQL, MongoDB, or PostgreSQL. To initiate the implementation of the needed database, submit a request here.
What database resources can I manage with Percona Everest?
Unlike paid DBaaS solutions, Percona Everest allows you to allocate any custom resource value for any number of nodes, with no restrictions or limits per node. You can set it up during deployment and scale it at any time.
Can I influence the Percona Everest roadmap if I need a specific feature?
Yes, our Product Team always appreciates new feature requests and upvotes existing tickets for development prioritization. You can leave your request here.
Can I update my databases via Percona Everest?
Yes, Percona Everest automates all Day 2 Operations, such as updates, backup, recovery, monitoring, and patching.
Is it possible to use custom container images with Everest?
Custom container image support will be available soon; currently, we use the public Docker registry for pulling images.
Can we use the same Percona Monitoring and Management for all databases deployed in Percona Everest?
Yes, you can use one centralized Percona Monitoring and Management tool for all databases, which will be connected to Percona Everest and available there.
Can I customize the database namespace in Percona Everest?
Yes, you can use any number of namespaces that work better for your database infrastructure organization.
Does Percona Everest support encryption at rest?
Yes.
Does Percona Everest support multitenancy?
Yes.
